Studies show that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for children. Eating breakfast improves children’s educational performance, behavior and health. During the summer, food security for children becomes a greater challenge, because the schools are not providing free breakfast and lunch programs.
FoCo Cafe’s Summer Breakfast Program provides low-income families and children with healthy breakfast throughout the summer. Children and their families will also participate in community through educational activities and caring for our garden space.
Our Second Year
2017 was FoCo Cafe’s second year of the Kids Feeding Kids Summer Breakfast Program. Participants enjoyed healthy breakfasts at FoCo Cafe sponsored by Noosa and The Gold Leaf Collective. Fun followed breakfast and included activities such as: milking goats, meet and greet with chickens, mini goats, and other farm animals, learning about composting, gardening, and nutrition, a variety of crafting and creating, nature rides, and so much more! Thank you to everyone who made 2017’s program such a success! Click here to read the KFK Summer 2017 Final Report.
